Reasoning – IQ Test

Thirty original pattern, number and word puzzles that show how you solve new problems, with an estimated score on the IQ scale.

30 questions20-minute time limit

Before you begin

Each puzzle has one right answer. You have 20 minutes for all 30 puzzles. You can skip a puzzle and come back to it, and change an answer while time remains. When the time is up, your result is worked out from the answers you have given; a puzzle left unanswered counts as not solved, so if you are not sure, choose the answer that seems best. Please work on your own, without a calculator or other help, or the result will not mean much.

This assessment is for education and self-reflection. Your score is an estimate on the IQ scale, not an official IQ score, and it is not a medical or psychological diagnosis.

Without the time limit, your result is marked "untimed" and compared only with other untimed results.

How it works

  • One puzzle on the screen at a time. Each has one right answer.
  • You have 20 minutes for all the puzzles. The clock starts when you press Start and keeps running if you leave the page. When the time is up, your result is worked out from the answers you have given.
  • You can skip a puzzle and come back to it, and change an answer while time remains.
  • While you work, your answers are kept in this browser only, so you can stop and pick up later on the same device.
  • When you finish, your answers are sent to Happy Me to be scored, because the right answers are not kept in your browser. They are not stored unless you choose to save your result to an account.

Where the questions come from

Original puzzles written for Happy Me. The puzzles follow three long-established types of reasoning question: completing a pattern of pictures, continuing a series of numbers, and working with word meanings and logical statements. They are not taken from any published assessment.
