Privacy policy
Last updated: October 17, 2026
Happy Me offers free self-assessments for education and self-reflection, in English and in French. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it plainly. If anything is unclear, write to us at hello@gethappyme.com.
Who we are
Happy Me is operated by HFTP, based in New York, United States ("Happy Me", "we", "us"). We are the party responsible for the personal information described here.
The short version
- You can take any assessment without an account. In that case your answers stay in your own browser. The one exception is the reasoning assessment: when you finish it, your answers are sent to us to be scored, and we do not store them.
- If you create an account and choose to save a result, we store your email address, your answers, and your results. A result is only saved when you ask for it.
- If you buy a full report, the payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- We do not sell your information, show advertising, or use advertising trackers. We count visits with a privacy-friendly counter that uses no cookies and does not identify you.
- You can delete your information at any time, and ask us for a copy of it.
- Happy Me is for adults aged 18 and over.
What we collect
If you do not have an account
Your answers and your progress are kept in your browser's storage on your own device, so you can stop and continue later. They are not sent to Happy Me, with one exception described below. Clearing your browser data removes them. Signing out of an account, or deleting it, also removes any answers kept in that browser.
The reasoning assessment is scored on our server. Its puzzles have right and wrong answers, and the right answers are not sent to your browser. So when you finish that assessment and open your result, your browser sends the answers you chose to Happy Me, our server works out your result and sends it back, and that is all: the answers and the result are not stored, not written to a log, and not linked to you, unless you choose to save the result to an account. The other assessments are scored in your browser.
The memory and attention assessment uses different material each time. To avoid showing you the same words and pictures twice in a row, the site looks at your previous attempt: the one kept in your browser or, if you are signed in, your latest saved result. Nothing extra is collected for this.
If you create an account
- Your email address, which you give us to sign in.
- If you sign in with Google, the basic profile details Google shares with us: your email address, your name, and your profile picture address.
- Each result you choose to save: the answers you gave, the scores worked out from them, and the dates you started and finished. For the memory and attention assessment, the answers are the words, number sequences and picture pairs you were shown together with what you typed or chose.
- Sign-in details: when your account was created and when you last signed in.
- If you buy a full report: what you bought, the amount and currency, the date, and Stripe's reference for the payment. We do not receive or store your card number or other payment details.
Nothing from an assessment is saved to your account until you either click "Save to my account" or get the full report for that result, by buying it or, during the launch offer, for free (getting the report saves the result, because the report is built from it).
If we give you free access to the full reports
Sometimes we give someone free access to the full reports. To do that, we keep your email address on a short list, together with the date it was added and a note saying it is a gift. When you sign in with that address (or if you already have an account), the access is added to your account, and the list records the date it was used. We do not use the list for anything else, and you can ask us to remove your address from it at any time.
During the launch offer
Until Thanksgiving (November 26, 2026), full reports are free for anyone with an account. When you unlock a report this way, we record on your account which assessment's report you unlocked and when, in the same way as a purchase but with no payment. We collect nothing else for the offer.
Technical information
Like most websites, the companies that host Happy Me for us automatically process technical details needed to deliver pages and keep the service secure, such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of each request.
Usage totals
We count how many times the three sample questions on the home page are answered, how many times each assessment is started and completed, how many times someone goes to the payment page for a full report, and how many reports are bought. These are daily totals only, kept separately for the English and the French versions of the site. They are not linked to you, your account, your browser, or your device, and we cannot tell from them who did what.
Visitor statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits to the site: which pages are viewed, the site or search that brought you here, your approximate country, and the type of browser and device. It uses no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, does not follow you to other websites, and gives us only totals, never a record of an individual visitor. To do this, a small script from Cloudflare runs on our pages and sends Cloudflare these details for each page view. Like any website request, this includes your IP address; Cloudflare states that it does not use it to identify or track visitors.
Cookies and browser storage
We use only what the site needs to work:
- A cookie that keeps you signed in.
- A cookie holding your browser's time zone, so dates are shown correctly.
- Browser storage for your light or dark mode choice, your choice between English and French, and answers in progress.
We do not use advertising cookies, and the visitor counter described above uses no cookies at all.
How we use your information
- To provide the service: signing you in, saving your results, showing how they change over time, and giving you the full reports you have bought.
- To take payment for a full report and keep a record of the purchase.
- To understand, from the usage totals and visitor statistics, how the site is used overall.
- To keep accounts and the site secure.
- To answer you when you contact us.
- To meet legal obligations.
We may also use results in combined form, with nothing that identifies you, to improve the accuracy of the percentile estimates shown on the site.
We do not sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to make automated decisions about you.
Your results are sensitive, and we treat them that way
Your answers and results say something personal about you. We store them only when you ask us to, by clicking "Save to my account" or by getting the full report for a result. You can remove them at any time by deleting a result or your account.
Saved answers and results are held in Happy Me's database, and we are technically able to access them. We do not look at any individual's answers or results, except when you ask us for help with your account or when the law requires us to.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only with the companies that help us run Happy Me, and only as needed for them to do so:
- Supabase, which provides our database and sign-in system.
- Netlify, which hosts the website.
- Cloudflare, which manages our domain name, forwards the emails you send to our contact address, and provides the visitor statistics described above.
- Resend, which sends the sign-in emails. It receives your email address and the sign-in link, only to deliver that email.
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Stripe, if you buy a full report. Full reports are sold through Stripe's Managed Payments service, in which Stripe, under its Link name, is the seller. Stripe runs the payment page, processes the payment, works out any tax from the billing address you give it, and emails your receipt. We send Stripe your email address, so it can fill in the payment form and send your receipt, together with what you are buying, the price, the language of the page you bought from, and an internal account reference so we can match the payment to your account. On that page Stripe asks for your name, billing address, and card or other payment details, and it may ask for a phone number; these go to Stripe directly, not to us. Stripe uses that information under its own privacy policy, including to prevent fraud and to meet its tax and other legal obligations. You can ask Link to delete the information it holds about your purchases.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or of Happy Me.
Where your information is stored
Your information is stored and processed in the United States. If you use Happy Me from another country, your information will be transferred to the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information and saved results until you delete them. Deleting a result removes it from our database. Deleting your account removes the account and everything saved in it, including our record of your purchases and your access to the full reports you bought or unlocked. Stripe keeps its own record of any payment for as long as the law requires it to. Copies held in our service providers' backups may persist for a short period before they are overwritten. An email address on our list of free access gifts stays there until you ask us to remove it.
Your choices and rights
On the "Account and data" page you can delete your account and everything in it. You can delete an individual result from the "My results" page.
To get a copy of everything stored in your account, including your answers, your results and any purchases, write to hello@gethappyme.com from the address you sign in with. We will send it to you, in a file a computer can read, within one month.
Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to receive a copy of it, or to object to or restrict how it is used. To use any of these rights, write to hello@gethappyme.com. We will not treat you differently for doing so. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on our agreement with you to store the results you choose to save, to run your account and to provide a full report you have bought, on our legal obligations to keep records of payments, and on our legitimate interests to keep the service secure and to count overall usage.
Security
Information travels between your browser and Happy Me over an encrypted connection, and our database provider encrypts stored data. Access to saved results is restricted so that each account can read only its own. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Adults only
Happy Me is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Not medical advice
Assessments and results on Happy Me are for education and self-reflection. They are not a medical or psychological diagnosis.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when what we do changes, and we will change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you on the site or by email before it takes effect.
